10 Ways to let that Sh** Go

Most of our everyday lives are filled with many different stressors, some of which are harder to relax from than others. Below are our Top Ten ways to let that Sh** Go to help you be one step closer to a life of balance.

  1. Do something kind

Sometimes doing something kind for others allows us to get out of our head for a little bit. The smallest gesture, like a smile and “you look nice today!” can go a long way. The world would also be a better place if we all just took a second everyday to give back.

2. Laugh a little

Laughter is the best medicine. Look up a YouTube video, talk to a friend or look up a joke. It doesn’t matter how you do it but DO IT! You have our full permission to be a silly little kid again (even if it’s just for a few minutes!)

3. Breathe

Taking  a breather is the best way to regain balance in the body by increasing awareness and mindfulness.
Here’s on of our favorites to try: Try breathing in for 4 counts, hold for 7 counts and then breathe out for 8 counts. Repeat.

4. Exercise

Go for a run, walk, come into the studio, try out a new exercise class, etc. Just get moving. Even a small 10-15 minutes of physical activity can release endorphins which will make you feel better.
5. Quit multi-tasking!

For someone looking to decrease their stress level, multitasking can be your worst enemy.

6. Talk to someone

This can go along with #1, #2 and #4, if you’re really looking to mix it up. A little interaction or vent session can go a long way. Talking it out is a great way to cope with a stressful situation.

7. Pour yourself a glass

Whether it is tea, wine or beer, take a second for yourself. Focus on how you’re really feeling and go with it.

8. Forgive yourself

We are all human and we all make mistakes. When you aren’t sweating the small stuff you will feel a lot better about yourself. You have a choice to be your harshest critic or your biggest fan. Choose wisely.

9. Check out on a mental vacation (even if it’s just for a few minutes)

The beach or a favorite childhood place, find where you feel the most relaxed and go there! BONUS: No expensive plane ticket needed.

10. Change what you can and accept what you can’t

Not everything is always going to go your way. Change it or accept it.
